I have this great condo. I LOVE my condo!!! I LOVE the really high ceilings best of all. Well I did till last night. Why is it, that no matter when you put the batteries in the smoke alarms, they ALWAYS and I do mean always, tell you the battery is low at 2:00 am?? Why is that? 2:00 freaking AM!!! I crawl out of bed, get dressed because I have to go down to the garage and see if the ladder is available, bring the ladder back upstairs and disconnect the damn alarm. I twist it off only to find it hardwired to the ceiling. I finally figured out how to slide off a little panel and remove the battery. OK, battery is out…..whew….. I climb down and just left the ladder and went to bed. About 5 minutes later the alarm is going off again!!! How?? There is no battery. It seems these damn things beep when the battery is low, and because it is hard wired, beeps again to tell you there is NO BATTERY!!! Son-of-a-BI***!!! Back up the ladder because I can’t figure out how to shut it off. Oh wait……figured it out……I ripped the SOB right off the ceiling! It ain’t hard wired no more and it will never be again!
